Letters

Letters pledging lifelong sobriety from graduates of comprehensive addiction treatment programs I support continue to make the memory of Laura matter. Each graduate keeps a copy, sends one to the treatment program, and sends one to me. These measures of accountability keep us all honest … so do personal mission statements and journals. For any kind of goal-planning, I find the process of daily writing, fine-tuning, and observing as necessary as breathing. Try writing one positive thing about yourself each day. I have been doing this for the twelve years since Laura died. It is an empowering exercise.
